Project Info

Haiku for Her

Devpost

Inspiration

This is my first hackathon, and being more familiar with the engineering side of things, I wanted to create a hardware hack.

What it does

My product generates haikus on an LCD while also providing real-time messages.

How we built it

I built the project using an Arduino Uno connected to a 16x2 LCD. The messages are generated using a Python script that interfaces with Discord and OpenAI's API.

Challenges we ran into

Some issues I encountered included learning Python from scratch and debugging the concatenated strings that OpenAI provided.

Accomplishments we're proud of

I am proud that in my first hackathon, I was able to fully create a project that I am passionate about that works effectively. Additionally, I am proud of how much I learned in such a short amount of time and how much I grew and pushed myself.

What we learned

I gained valuable experience in programming, debugging, and the integration of hardware and software.

What's next

for Haikus for Her Next for Haikus for Her is to create aesthetic cases and plug-and-play functionality, allowing users to customize their LCDs.
