Inspiration

Frustration with unused pantry ingredients inspired Plates2People, a platform to help users create meals with what's on hand, reducing food waste.

What it does

Plates2People provides personalized recipes based on users' pantry ingredients, simplifying meal planning and reducing the need for additional grocery purchases.

How we built it

We developed Plates2People through a collaborative effort, combining smart algorithms, culinary expertise, and user-friendly design. Our recipe database was meticulously curated for diversity.

Challenges we ran into

Challenges included refining the recommendation algorithm, creating an intuitive user interface, gathering an extensive recipe database, and addressing privacy and security concerns.

Accomplishments we're proud of

We take pride in making cooking more accessible and sustainable, minimizing food waste, and being very relevant to people on a budget aka college students.

What we learned

Our journey with Plates2People has taught us the intricacies of food recommendation algorithms, the significance of data privacy, and the importance of a positive user experience. We've discovered that combining culinary expertise with technology is a powerful way to address real-world problems and make a positive impact.

What's next

The future involves expanding our recipe database, forming local food supplier partnerships, and developing a mobile app for greater accessibility. Our aim is to reduce food waste and promote sustainable, homemade cooking globally.
