## Devpost submission (written by the team)

### Inspiration

We pivoted from our initial idea because we were impressed by the emotional analytics provided by Hume.ai and wanted to build with it. We were spitballing ideas when we realized that we all shared anxiety and stress about taking interviews and job hunting.

### What it does

Our app uses AI to host a realistic practice interview and provides the user with constructive feedback and insights on both the content they say and the way that they say it.

### How we built it

We built our web app using functionalities from language, speech, and emotional AI models. OpenAI Whisper for accurate speech-to-text transcription LLaMa for language processing and understanding Together.ai for model hosting Hume.ai for emotional analysis ElevenLabs.io for realistic human TTS generation NextJS and Flask for web app functionality

### Challenges we ran into

We had major difficulties throughout the development of our app as we are 1st time hackers with limited web development experience! Our main challenges involved writing our own and dealing with 3rd party APIs as well as working efficiently as a team to play to everyone's strengths.

### Accomplishments we're proud of

We are super proud of what we built and are excited to be using cutting edge AI tools to unlock new capabilities. Each member was critical to the success of our team, and we are happy that everyone had a chance to learn a lot and contribute amazing things.

### What we learned

We all gained new skills during this project, from new frameworks to project management. We learned how to listen to each other and stay up late!

### What's next

Rhetoric is a tool that we believe has massive potential to help people feel more confident in themselves. From job-seekers to key-note speakers, Rhetoric can be useful in many industries and across disciplines. We hope to explore entrepreneurial paths forward and continue developing a product that can help both us and others put our best foot forward.
